About Jeremiah Blue

eremiah Blue engages writing across multiple genres: non-fiction and memoir, spoken word/poetry, fiction and screenwriting.

Blue has split his time in the creative world as a writer, performer, organizer, and host/MC.  As co-founder and director of the Downtown Poetry Slam and executive director of the Copper State Poetry Slam Championship, he has been an active community leader and participant in the greater Phoenix, AZ area since 2006.  He also worked as event director for Wilkes University in Mesa, Arizona, producing The Arizona Writer’s Conference.

With his poetry and performance, Blue won the 2016 Southwest Regional Championship and the 2015 Arizona Slam Poetry Championship.  He has also been the Phoenix Poetry Slam Champion three times, representing the city at two National Poetry Slams and the Individual World Poetry Slam.  Blue’s poetry has been presented at universities and incorporated into college course work, as well as being featured in radio shows, museums, and venues throughout the country.  As speaker and performer, Blue has presented at high schools and numerous universities, corporate conferences, and the Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP) national conference.  Individual poems have been published with Tedx and Button Poetry, among others.

Blue holds a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Creative Writing and a Master of Arts (MA) in Creative Nonfiction, from The Maslow Family Graduate Program of Creative Writing at Wilkes University.  His nonfiction has been featured at storytelling events around the country and published, among others, in The Write Life, Our Human Family, Noteworthy, and, broadly, on Medium.  He is a staff writer for a variety of publications.  A selection of his forth-coming memoir was awarded the Etruscan Press Prize in 2016.
